Rail

TranzScenic operates services from Auckland and Wellington to Christchurch, and also across the Southern Alps to the West Coast of the South Island

Inter-Island Ferry

 

Passenger and vehicle services run regularly between the South and North Islands across Cook Strait (InterIslander)    

Airlines

International and domestic airlines operate out of Christchurch International Airport. New Zealand has a well developed domestic airline network, servicing most cities and towns.

Hospitals New Zealand hospitals are modern and well equipped, both in the private and public sector. Christchurch Public Hospital is situated close to the city centre. Most visitors to New Zealand are not eligible for publicly funded health care. To determine your eligibility, please visit the Ministry of Health website.
Doctors A visit to a general practitioner (GP) in Canterbury costs anywhere from $45 -$75 NZ 
Health Insurance It is always advisable to take out travel and health insurance before you leave home.
