Short Break itineraries - 4/5 days

ITINERARY ONE

Day One

• Spend the day in Christchurch
• Visiting many of the attractions and activities available to do in the city
• Stay: Christchurch

Day Two

• Spend the day visiting the surrounding areas of Christchurch
• For example: Lyttelton, Sumner, Port Hills
• Stay: Christchurch

Day Three

• Travel from Christchurch to Arthurs Pass. This drive will take approximately 2½ hours.
• Stay: Arthurs Pass

Day Four

• Spend the day in Arthurs Pass
• Try one of the many walks available in Arthurs Pass National Park or perhaps a 4WD excursion.
• Stay: Arthurs Pass

Day Five

• Extra day in Arthurs Pass or Christchurch

ITINERARY TWO

Day One

• Travel to Akaroa. This drive will take approximately 1½ hours.
• Visiting various attractions or activities on the way and in Akaroa
• Stay: Akaroa

Day Two

• Travel to Ashburton from Akaroa. This drive will take approximately 1½ hours
• Stay: Ashburton

Day Three

• Travel from Ashburton to Methven. This drive will take approximately 20-30 minutes.
• Visit the various attractions and activities in the area.
• Stay: Methven

Day Four

• Travel from Methven to Christchurch. This drive will take approximately 1 hour.
• Visit the various attractions and activities on the way back to Christchurch.
• Stay: Christchurch

Day Five

• Extra day in Akaroa, Ashburton or Methven

ITINERARY THREE

Day One

• Travel to Hanmer Springs. This drive will take approximately 1½ hours
• Visit the various attractions and activities along the way
• Stay: Hanmer Springs

Day Two

• Travel from Hanmer Springs to Kaikoura. This drive will take approximately 2 hours.
• Visit the various attractions and activities in Hanmer Springs & Kaikorua
• Stay: Kaikoura

Day Three

• Travel from Kaikoura to the Waimakariri district. This drive will take approximately 2 hours.
• Visit the various attractions and activities along the way
• Stay: Waimakariri

Day Four

• Travel from the Waimakariri district to Christchurch. This drive will take approximately 30 – 40 minutes.
• Stay: Christchurch

Day Five

• Extra day in Hanmer Springs, Kaikoura or Waimakariri

ITINERARY FOUR

Day One

• Travel to Lake Tekapo. This drive will take approximately 3 hours.
• Visit various attractions & activities along the way and in the township of Lake Tekapo
• Stay: Lake Tekapo

Day Two

• Travel from Lake Tekapo to Mount Cook. This drive will take approximately 1½ hours.
• Visit various attractions & activities along the way and in the village of Aoraki Mount Cook
• Stay: Mount Cook

Day Three

• Travel from Mount Cook to Waimate or Timaru. This drive will take approximately 2/2½ hours.
• Visit various attractions & activities along the way and in the township of Waimate
• Stay: Waimate or Timaru

Day Four

• Travel from Waimate or Timaru to Pleasant Point to Geraldine to Christchurch. This drive will take approximately 2½ hours.
• Visit various attractions & activities in the townships on the way back to Christchurch
• Stay: Christchurch

Day Five

• Spend an extra day in Waimate or Timaru
